another night in da hood
Building computers.
Infrastructure.
And then we drive through the post-industrial landscape of New Jersey.
It's almost mind-blowing, my jaw just drop and drop.
We drive on this vast highway that's right out of a horror movie and while driving I realize why I've never seen it in a movie. You could never shut this monster called the New Jersey Turnpike off for long enough to shoot a scene, far less a car chase.
The scale of industrial america never cease to amaze me.
It's silly writing about it in a blog 'cause you really got to experience it, so I'll stop. Let me just say that I see now how you could pen such a harsh story as HL2, from this viewpoint it seems mild. But the opening of 'our benefactors' never left my mind as I was driving 'round in this endless machine of human transportation. I feel more and more uncertain about the modern project and where it's all leading, as if the ground shakes beneath me like the turnpike(try walking on that thing!). I am however reaffirmed in my impression of humanity as wanderers, all it's telling me is it's time to leave this planet behind. We must go before it is too late, before this society implodes on itself and all the hatred is unleashed; it will destroy us for sure.
Coming from a sailors family I am more than a bit restless whereever I go, and by the time I grew up my home country was no longer a great sailing nation. It had all been outsourced, mainly to the phillipines; thought about moving there actually, because why. But the stars are opening up and the next 30 years is our window of escape. We must use the time wisely.
It fits my nature as explorer and is the logical next step for the race as a whole, wonderful. Go save humanity. I miss mr. D. NYC is no fun without him, I don't even bother to go out. It's funny the way you bond with some people, you feel like a lesser man without them. Ofcoure, mr. B is here and we have a different bond, but he's not partying at all really. So I have noone to go and be outrageous with, sulk.
But local man John is coming over and we'll go see Kansas go bye-bye at Uncle Joe's soon. Phun.
And for this in the know, I now have future travel plans:
I will land in Oslo on june 10 as planned; i will pick up my cell and restore two-way voice traffic(it only works in europe), say hello to the homies(I'm allowed to use that now, right? I live in da hood an'all), spend a couple of nights on a couch or in the studio and go on Mallorca, beautiful spanish isle in the sun.
I'll be there for a month or two, collating data from my american experiance, and then head on for Italy; facing another winter there. I'm trying to establish contact with M & G on the email these days, I've been unable to open my email archive since I came and ofcourse I don't remember the email or the phone. I hope it'll all be good, chilling out with M & G and doing a record with them sounds like the right cure for me. Oh, and the Kawa record is now mastered, they uploaded me the masters and they sound glorious. It's weird having me work transformed this way, I know my ideals are too high-end but I made the Kawa record work as pop anyway. And the mastering process killed alot of the high-end-nes. But now it sounds really cool on every small to normal stereo in the world, I'm amazed really. It was the best I could hope for.
It looks like we'll almost be clocking in a record here too before I leave, I figure I'll do some post on Mallorca.
oops, gotta run.
