semantics
"if you are a cable subscriber with both analog and digital sets in you house, you will want your analog sets to work in analog ...and your digital sets to work in digital.Consumers should be empowered to make the choice about which signal to receive -- not the cable gatekeeper."
america is full of shit. Statements like the one above looks like it is important but in reality is shit from a to z.
Most american debates are never about the issue i have discovered, but about the debate itself. They simply are afraid of making decisions. Their debate on wheter to end analog broadcasting and start digital broadcasting is in itself irrelevant. By the time they are done debating the market will already have executed the transistion. They discuss a 2008 date, by which time a digital set-top box will cost 50 cents to manufacture and probably sell for 20 bucks. That is the fact that makes the above quote irrelevant. There are many more irrelevant quotes in this debate. But americans love words, not facts. Facts are not poetic, interesting, bendable. They just are. Boring.
So america shuns facts at all costs.
I remember explaining the current geo-political situation to one of them while I was there. I pulled myself together and spoke as if to a child, like s-l-o-w-l-y. The person understood what I said and expressed surprise. This person had never before heard the situation explained.
Remarkable no?
With 500 TV channels not a single one of them contains relevant facts, or news.
But 20 of them was dedicated to showing people playing poker.
despite, or because of this the revolution will start there.
Their underground is very angry. Angry at the war, angry at their leadership, angry at complacent europe cpoying all their biggest mistakes.
And europe is complacent. Nothing is wrong in our perfect social democracies, right? wrong.
I´ve found the underground in europe too. But not in the nordic countries.
Norway makes me sick these days. Everybody is way to happy for no good reasons. Glad I´m not there, don´t think I will go back.
I mean, look at ourselves:
We let america hold our citizens in some illegal(geneva convention, remember that little detail, but fuck that -and the UN) torture camp on Cuba.
The americans are unrepentant about torturing *our* citizens. I mean what is this if not reason to at the very least break off diplomatic relations. Even nordic citizens they torture. No objections come from our perfect social democracies. Oh, a little bit of torture, what is that?
Instead they argue about the definition of torture. Is it still torture when you apply it with technology?
Well, yes. End of that debate.
Is it still torture when it it´s all in the head leaving no bruises or other physical injuries?
Well, yes! End of *that* debate.
Is it still torture if...
oh, shut up you damn fool, you´re giving me a head-ache!
Is it still torture if you play some stupid rock-song loudly on repeat for 24 hours?
YES god damn it! YES! YES! *YES!* What are you? Stupid?
Haven´t we learned anything?
Well, yes. We seemed to have learned semantics.
And we sure as heck are applying it.
I´m thinking to myself, do I really want this? A revolution?
Think about the sacrifices. All the death. I will have to kill, probably be killed.
Destruction everywhere, collapse of infrastructure, millions starving...
Well, yes. Billions are already starving, because of us. Every 3 seconds some kid dies, of starvation(fact, not conjecture). I am responsible. I am a mass-murderer already. Millions of lives have already been taken in my name.
What have I got to loose by killing some asshole that´s at least earned it?
Certainly not carma, it could hardly be worse.
So fuck it. fuck all of it.
