The hot spot
It´s hot indeed. Spent the day on the beach, too hot anywhere else.
Even now, at 1900 hours -the temperature is still a cool 36 degrees celsius, last night the temperature dropped to 28 degrees and it felt cold, I wrapped myself in a blanket.
Slow working mind.
I am getting in to the groove of things though -this place is kinda quiet for a tourist paradise and all the better, right near here is Porto Rico and it´s much more stressful. By the way stress; I´m writing this in a games arcade and all the games are going boom around me. It´s good to be here, feels outside of ma:trix(phonetically) to paraphrase mr. M in Italy.
I am extremely tense though, a post-reaction of all the travelling of late I guess; I´m hoping to sweat it out I guess. Works fine by me if it works, I could really need to relax awhile. I´m pondering my new movie which is work-titled California, my stay in the US made me confident enough to set a story there and I´m really enjoying writing it. But I have arrived at the main bulk of the movie which is a one-hour long action/chase sequence, writing it is a lot of choreography. It is impòrtant for me not violate any law of physics to make it more exciting, I tend to laugh at these in movies and I wouldn´t want to disappoint myself.
That creates a lot difficulties when writing, but the pay-off is great -those few movies made which has presented the audience with a more realistic experience while at the same being fantasy/sci-fi/alternate world or whatever has generally sold extremely well and gone on to become icons in their genre. I aim for nothing less.
Sci-fi horror comedy is my genre and I love it, at this time it seems unthinkable for me to do something else. I would love to do a fantasy movie but I can´t write one; I´d need to do tons and tons of research to create something neat.
I´ve never seen a movie with dragons that was great. It´d be really fun to do that, I´d love to do the story of Luthien and Beren in Silmarilion, that´d make a great movie.
But anyway, now is all hi-tec and I enjoy that -but I must admit that I had to come up with an excuse for shutting down the cell-phone network early on. It´s just useless for horror, if you can call for help at any time -and if society knows your exact position and can track your movements(which is a built in feature in any cell(the systm couldn´t operate without it)), well, it´s not a great starting point is it?
The networked world creates many interesting film possibilities -but I fail to see how I can use it in my stories. Saw chunking express again recently and what a beatiful film it is, but I could never make something like that.
I am making something now though. An improvisation, I´m playing with my hours upon hours of shot video, some staged, some home-movie. I have no idea what it´ll be in the end but I have two goals; One is to create about an hours worth of film that will actually be shown in atleast one film-festival, and the other is to express how I feel.
It´s not hard, it´s real easy.
People are peeking over my shoulder as I write, I feel embarrassed even though in minutes this text will be available to about one billion people -*but they can´t see me*...
In other news, scientists have established that the weather system known as El Nino, now considered an abberation, can actually be a stable system and therefore be maintained for thousands of years -hardly good news. In other climate news scientists have established that we are fucked beyond redemption and as such, the best we can do is emgrate to mars. So who cares?
cheers
