Security ala bangskij
In this day and age of passwords and login ids, here's what i do.
I have three important passwords.
The first two are for my bank accounts, and they are hard to remember. But I do.
The last is for my email-account, it too is hard to remember but I never have to enter it(Outlook just remembers it). I don't think I know what it is right now...
And then there's the gazillion others;
First of all I use only one username and only one password. Easy to remember, terrible security.
Second I always lie when requested for personal information, such as:
My name is Nagabore Antata, I am 59 years old from Gambia.
My mothers name was Umkaca.
I have 8 children and so on you get the picture.
Thus: If someone gets my username and password they get nothing, except access to the new york times website :-)
The reason is simple: These unsecure websites have no business asking me for personal information to see their content, when at the same time the content is full of ads. It's like being asked for personal information from the telly, I wouldn't answer.
And so I give all websites I have to log onto only bullshit to work with.
There is another advantage and that is that your browsing habits might not be related to your name(though it would be related to your IP address) making data-mining harder or impossible.
My browsing habits are for sale to anyone WHO PAYS ME REAL MONEY, in advance.
Though I have no data worth stealing online my identity will be worth something for the right kind of criminal. This criminal will get little to work if he cracks my ID/password, for not to mention all the useless web-sites they'll get him access to.
"Woah, I stole the ID from this Gambian bitch and now I can read the new york times for free, hurrah."
Also, I like to put my address in the third world 'cause the site'll think your poor and that it's useless to spam you to death 'cause you have no money.
I've had the same email address for 3 years now and I've gotten 8 spam emails in total and I don't have a spam-filter.
So I guess it works.
Final word of wisdom
If you want to be safe online. Don't be online.
